Giulia Conti - Mark Sib, 2026

A portrait of Italian sailing champion Giulia Conti. 

The portrait was commissioned and painted during Foiling Week on Lake Garda in July. The finished work will be displayed at The Foiling Organization / We Are Foiling stand, with all proceeds from its subsequent auction funding coaching and development opportunities for young foilers.

'I had no idea who I was going to paint. Then I saw Giulia, and I knew. She had a face that told a story. I found out later where that story came from: four Olympic Games and an America's Cup win.'

The easter egg.

I like to hide something in every piece. Nothing you'd notice until it's pointed out. It's usually the reason I wanted to paint the person in the first place. In this one, I engraved a small America's Cup.
